Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi launched a direct attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi while on a visit to his parliamentary constituency of Amethi on Thursday.
When residents of the constituency confronted him about the acute power crisis that they were facing, Gandhi, targeting the Prime Minister, said that the latter was just too busy playing drums in Japan, when the whole nation was battling a major power crisis, including his own parliamentary constituency.
Trying to project himself in a good light, yet in a helpless position, Gandhi told the villagers that he had taken up the matter with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav through a letter, and hoped that the matter would be resolved sooner than later.
During their interaction with him, the villagers revealed that the power cuts were just too frequent for comfort, and added that they were getting their electricity for just about four hours per day.
Gandhi said that he would work towards solving their problems.
Gandhi also visited a Dargah in Bhikhipur village of Rae Bareli District and offered prayers.
The Gandhi scion is expected to meet Congress Party workers, besides holding interactions with villagers during his visit.
The Congress vice president is also expected to visit a school where he will take part in a felicitation event on the occasion of Teacher's Day on Friday
